Bild des Projekts GALILEOnautic 2 The system developed in the predecessor project GALILEOnautic provided proof of feasibility for automated navigation and optimised manoeuvring of networked, cooperating ships in ports using the example of demonstrators on a smaller scale. In GALILEOnautic 2, the corresponding methods are to be supplemented and further developed for relevant automation functions. The focus is on making the methods available for relevant applications, such as the assisted ferry crossing from the port of Rostock to Gedser in Denmark, a port with demanding waters. The aim of the participants is to fully automate docking manoeuvres and port crossings upon completion of the project.
