AG Inverse Problems and Imaging

Administration: Prof. Dr. Dirk Lorenz

Our Group

The Inverse Problems and Imaging group is dedicated to research and development of methods for solving inverse problems. Inverse problems refer to the challenge of inferring the underlying causes or structures from observed data. The focus of our working group is on
  • Inverse Problems
  • Convex Optimization
  • Kaczmarz Methods
  • Optimal Transport
  • Machine Learning

European Convex Optimization Workshop

From March 2–4, 2026, we will host the first edition of the European Convex Optimization Workshop.

Our Goal: Fostering the Next Generation of Researchers.

This workshop is primarily designed to bring together PhD students and early-career researchers in convex optimization to facilitate networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. We encourage senior faculty members to attend and engage with the next generation of researchers.

You find all information regarding this workshop here. We're looking forward to seeing you in Bremen!

Oberseminar

In each semester we host an oberseminar with topics from mathematical imaging, inverse problems, convex optimization, machine learning and other topics. Currently the seminar is online on Zoom every Wednesday from 14:00 to 15:30.

You will find an overview of past and future lectures here.
