A Multi-Mesh Finite Element Method for Phase Field Simulations

In phase field models, different components of the solution (temperature and phase variable) exhibit a strongly different local behaviour. An optimal discretization should use a mesh for each component. We present a general framework for the adaptive solution of coupled systems and its application to phase field simulations.
