Dr. Thomas Janßen

Mathematics Education

Research areas,

  • linear equations,
  • algebra,
  • design research,
  • educational technology,
  • learning theories,
  • networking of theories.

My main research interests are learning processes regarding elementary algebra, in particular linear equations, as well as the use of technology in mathematics education. I have relied on different theories that take account of the social and societal character of mathematical activity, and have mainly used methodologies centered on (task) design and (classroom) interaction.
