PhD position
University of Bremen, Department of Computer Science, Group of Computer Architecture
The University of Bremen is a mid-sized university with 290 professorships and 20,000 students,
offering a broad range of disciplines and producing internationally competitive top-level research.
With an ambitious strategy the university was successful in the German Excellence Initiative. The
Group of Computer Architecture is internationally renowned for its research in the field of formal
circuit design methodology as well as verification and testing techniques.
The University of Bremen invites applications for a PhD position within the Group of Computer
Architecture ­ under the condition of job release
(Reference-No. A41/16)
The full time position will be appointed for three years starting as soon as possible in 2016. The
salary is fixed by the German pay grade system for public services (pay grade EG 13 TV-L). The PhD
candidate will be offered scientific guidance by a supervisor. The University of Bremen Welcome
Centre supports international PhD candidates in all matters related to their stay at the University of
Bremen.
The PhD position is funded by the DFG and offered in the field of hardware testing and Design-for ­
Test (DFT) techniques for digital circuits. In particular, the field of power-aware test is addressed.
Close cooperation with an industrial partner is possible.
Candidates should hold a Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related
field. The candidate should ideally possess the following qualifications:
· Circuit design techniques, preferably circuit power consumption
· Search algorithms or formal solving engines, e.g. ATPG, Boolean Satisfiability
· Programming skills in C/C++ and scripting language
· Experience in the use of EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools, e.g. DFT, simulation, test
generation
· Fluent English language skills (reading, writing, speaking)
