University of Bremen/Graduate School "System Design"
The University of Bremen is a mid-sized university with 250 professorships and 19,000
students, offering a broad range of disciplines and producing internationally competitive toplevel research. With an ambitious strategy the university was successful in the Excellence
Initiative. The Graduate School System Design will be established in November 2012 through
funding within framework of the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State
Governments. The graduate school will be based on a joint graduate program between the
German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI Bremen), German Aerospace
Center(DLR Bremen) and the University of Bremen in the research field "methods and tools
for circuit and system design". In particular systems, built of integrated circuits and close
interaction with software are targeted.
The University of Bremen invites applications for a
Postdoc/Scientific coordinator of the Graduate School "System Design"
(Reference-No. A150/12)
The full time position will be initially appointed for two years starting on November 1, 2012.
A prolongation is possible. The salary is fixed by the German pay grade system for public
services (up to pay grade EG 14 TV-L).
The Postdoc/Scientific coordinator will develop the curriculum of the Graduate school and
organize the collaboration between the associated research groups of DFKI, DLR, and
University of Bremen. Moreover, he or she is responsible for guiding the enrolled PhD
students in their scientific work. These activities will be performed in agreement with the
heads of the research groups involved. The Postdoc/Scientific coordinator will be given the
possibility pursue his/her own research project.
Candidates are required to hold a PhD in computer science or a related field and have
experience in the conception of research oriented teaching and in project or science
management. A career background with international experience is favorable. Good writing
and oral English skills as well as good organizational skills are essential for the position.
